This is not Iceland. Iceland will take awhile to be digested, edited, made pretty, made coherent. Not that it isn't already.This is another kind of beach. This is Monterey, CA and these are walkers on the beach. It is easier to walk on the beach here because of the sand. The sand offers a graceful way to get to the water. It is not a lava field, which is what keeps one from getting to very close to the Atlantic in Iceland. But, other than that, I think people experience the Great Waters about the same everywhere. There are bizarre things to pick up and look at. There is the flow of water, always interesting in some universally accepted way. There are the smells of ocean, the cry of birds, the shifting pallet of sky and clouds. I can't imagine what it must be like to be land locked. It must be like being in jail. It must be like being shut up in a room. It must be very difficult.
