He said: "It was a house on fire. I'd never seen anything like it before. The sky lit up with a red glow and the smoke made it hard to breathe. The heat was not to be believed! I felt like I, myself, would soon go up in smoke. Seemed like the whole neighborhood was out watching from as close as they dared get. It didn't take long for the whole house to begin popping and crackling and snapping and spitting out flame, and then, in a woooosh, it fell into itself, little by little. The roof sagged and then there were some more "pops" and it was gone. God, I sure hope there wasn't anyone in there."
